Common questions about Next To You
- What is Next To You?
- Next To You is an online photo booth for long-distance couples. Two people in different locations can join the same booth, share a countdown, take four photos together and keep the same photo strip.
- Who is Next To You for?
- Next To You is for long-distance couples, or any two people who want to do something together while they are in different places. One person opens a booth and the other joins it from an invite link.
- Can long-distance couples take photo booth pictures together online?
- Yes. In Next To You, two people in different locations join the same online booth, see a shared countdown and take four photos together. Each person's camera is placed in the same frame, so the result looks like one photo strip.
- How does the shared photo booth work?
- One person opens a booth and sends the invite link. The partner joins from their own device. The person who opened the booth picks a frame, both people see a 3-2-1 countdown, and four photos are taken with a short pause between shots to change pose. Both of you then get the finished strip.
- Do both people need to download an app?
- No. Next To You runs in a web browser. Both people need a device with a camera, a modern browser and an internet connection, and each person has to allow camera access when the browser asks.
- Do both people get the same photo strip?
- Yes. Both people take the same four photos in the same frame, so you each end up with the same strip to keep.
- How many photos are taken in one booth session?
- Four. Each photo starts with a 3-2-1 countdown that both people see at the same time, and there is a short pause between photos so you can change pose.
- Can couples use Next To You from different countries?
- Yes. Next To You does not limit which countries the two people are in. You need a camera, a modern browser and an internet connection on both sides. Because the booth is live, you do need to be online at the same time, so pick a time that works across your time zones.
- Can we choose a photo booth frame?
- Yes. There are seven frames: Classic Lavender, Cute Pop, Character Booth, Kawaii Cute, Bubble Cute, Pet Pals and Sci-Fi Neon. The person who opened the booth picks the frame and their partner sees the choice live.
- Is Next To You a replacement for a video call?
- No. A video call is for talking. Next To You is a shared activity: you do one specific thing together, take four photos, and leave with something to keep. Many couples will use it alongside a call, not instead of one.
- Are the photos physical or digital?
- Digital. The strip is a JPG image you download to your device. Next To You does not print or ship anything.
- Is Next To You available now?
- Next To You is in early access. You can join the early access list on the website and you will be invited when the first booths open.
- How do I join Early Access?
- Enter your email address in the Early Access form on the Next To You website. You will be invited when the first booths open.
- Are photos stored?
- Next To You does not upload or save your photos on its servers. The live video goes directly between the two browsers, and a relay server only forwards it when a direct connection is not possible. The strip is assembled on your own device and you download it yourself. The only thing Next To You stores is the email address you enter to join early access.
- What makes Next To You different from sending selfies?
- Selfies are taken separately and sent one way. In Next To You you are in the booth at the same time, you see the same countdown, you react to each other, and you finish with one strip in one frame instead of two separate pictures.
