Long-Distance Photo Booth for Couples
Next To You is an online photo booth for long-distance couples. Two people in different locations can join the same booth, share a countdown, take four photos together and keep the same photo strip.

What is a long-distance photo booth?
A long-distance photo booth is an online booth that two people join from different places. Instead of each of you taking a selfie and sending it over, you stand in the same booth at the same moment, count down together and end up with one strip.
Next To You is built around that idea. It runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download. It is in early access, so you can join the list and be invited when the first booths open.
Six steps
How Next To You works
01
Open the booth
One of you opens a booth in the browser and allows camera access. Each booth gets its own private room code.
02
Invite your partner
Send the invite link. Your partner opens it on their own device and joins the same booth.
03
Pick a frame
The person who opened the booth chooses one of seven frames, and their partner sees the choice live.
04
Share the countdown
Both of you see the same 3-2-1 countdown at the same time before every shot.
05
Take four photos
Four photos are taken with a short pause between them, so you can change pose and react to each other.
06
Keep the same strip
Both of you get the finished strip as a digital image to download and keep.

Together, not forwarded
Why it feels different from sending selfies
Sending a selfie is one person sharing a moment with another. A photo strip taken together is something you both did at the same time.
| Sending selfies | A strip in Next To You | |
|---|---|---|
| Timing | Taken separately, at different times. | Taken at the same moment, with a shared countdown. |
| Direction | One person sends, the other replies. | You are in the booth together and react live. |
| Result | Two separate pictures in a chat. | One four-photo strip in one frame. |
| What you keep | Photos scattered across a conversation. | The same strip for both of you. |
Why it works for long-distance couples
Most of what long-distance couples do together is talk. Talking matters, but it does not give you a shared event to look back on. A photo booth is small, playful and over in a few minutes, which makes it easy to turn into a habit: a birthday, an anniversary, the day before one of you travels, or a Sunday you want to feel a bit more special.
Because there is a countdown and a pose to strike, you stop watching each other on a screen and start doing something together. If you are looking for more ways to do that, see our long-distance date ideas and couple activities.
A digital keepsake
What you keep afterwards
You keep the same four-photo strip, in the frame you chose. It is a digital image: you download it to your device and it is yours. Next To You does not print or ship anything. Choose from seven frames.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- Can long-distance couples take photo booth pictures together online?
- Yes. In Next To You, two people in different locations join the same online booth, see a shared countdown and take four photos together. Each person's camera is placed in the same frame, so the result looks like one photo strip.
- Do both people need to download an app?
- No. Next To You runs in a web browser. Both people need a device with a camera, a modern browser and an internet connection, and each person has to allow camera access when the browser asks.
- Do both people get the same photo strip?
- Yes. Both people take the same four photos in the same frame, so you each end up with the same strip to keep.
- Are the photos physical or digital?
- Digital. The strip is a JPG image you download to your device. Next To You does not print or ship anything.
- Are photos stored?
- Next To You does not upload or save your photos on its servers. The live video goes directly between the two browsers, and a relay server only forwards it when a direct connection is not possible. The strip is assembled on your own device and you download it yourself. The only thing Next To You stores is the email address you enter to join early access.
